Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you!
To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.
SELF-IMPROVEMENT
1. My biggest achievement in learning Chinese at this moment is learning how to write 数目(shu4 mu4) by hand. I still have a long way to go. I’m learning from ABC Language Chinese classes, Ubisoft’s My Chinese Coach on DS, ChinesePod online, and Chinese people =P.
2. I’m proud of being able to bench press 15 pound dumbells on each hand. I like strength training so much more than flexibility or cardio. My favorite machine is the lat pulldown.
3. Even if I’m obsessed with keeping track of my money, I still worry about balancing finances and allocating correctly. I’m saving up for a downpayment on a condominium. ETA 2012.
FOOD
4. I’m big on certain desserts. I LOVE ice cream (even though I’m Lactose =x =[). Vanilla is my favorite base flavor. I don’t like nuts on my ice cream. I don’t mind sprinkles, fudge or chocolate bits. Henry got me an ice cream maker recenty and we started making our own ice cream at the beginning of this year. It tastes awesome! I also love chocolate chip cookies. They are simply irresistable. Henry calls me cookie monster =p. I also love Tiramisu and Red Velvet cake. Yum!
5. I don’t drink alcohol because I don’t like the taste. Wine makes me feel nauseated. I have had some fruity drinks with very very little alcohol. Virgins taste better. I don’t drink coffee but I like frappucinos a lot.
6. I don’t like veggies in general but I like caesar salads and I also eat green peas, cooked brocolli, cooked carrots, corn, potato, lettuce, sweet potato, chopped up tomatoes, creamed spinach.
7. I get full very quickly but I get hungry a lot. I tend to only eat half my food for lunch and save half for dinner (or split meals with Henry). The goal is six meals a day, 266 calories a meal, 1600 calories a day.
ENTERTAINMENT
8. I love to be entertained as I’m sure most of you do too. Henry and I are on TiVo almost every single day. We subscribe to Netflicks. We constantly have a supply of AMC gold and silver tickets. I love watching broadway musicals – Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Jersey Boys, Rent, Spring Awakening, Wicked are the ones I’ve seen that I can remember and I highly recommend all of them. I love watching dance shows, especially hip hop shows. I am dating a retired hip hop dancer who loves to entertain ^^. Oh yeah and I have a certain fondness for video games, even past the point of game addiction to the point of being deeply involved within gaming communities. Ever since I got out of college I’ve worked within the entertainment industry – LucasArts, Ubisoft, and now MTV.
9. I love to play sports but I need a lot more practice, especially for snowboarding, paintballing, basketball, tennis and wall climbing. I have all my gear for snowboarding so I never have to rent anymore. I have multicam camouflage for paintball. I’m hesitant to buy a marker because it’s so expensive and there’s so much upkeep. I have a basketball but it’s in California. I have two actually.. one of them I shared with Elim back in my high school days. I have a tennis racket but I can hardly find a tennis court free for us to play on. I would love to go wall climbing again sometime soon!
10. I listen to music while I work. It helps me relax and focus. Nowadays, I’ve been sticking to pandora.com but I will also look stuff up on MTV.com for music videos or MTV radio. I like a variety of music.. rock, alternative, hip hop,.. trance, happy hardcore,.. kpop, cpop, jpop, tagalog, other foreign music,.. musicals,.. christian music (tomlin, hillsong, vineyard),.. classics (frank sinatra, ella fitzgerald), 80s (queen, journey), etc.
ONLINE
11. My life is in my personal website. It is a record, a collection of memories, everything I need to know about me – dates, statistics, information, etc. Information I write here should probably go there too. My website is constantly evolving so I don’t think I’ll ever be done with it.
12. I like to research everything before I make decisions. I feel very hesitant to buy any technology without having googled reviews and read up on any pertaining information that may help me make my choice.
13. I wish I had more control over my online existence. I’m so scattered all over the internet throughout so many sites it’s overwhelming. I wish I could collect everything under my domain while maintaining all the functionality and having the ability to set permissions on who can see what about me. Everything on my website can be learned just by talking to me so it makes sense for me to put it up there but at the same time having my life online is a security risk. But if my online presence on my website is a security risk, doesn’t that mean that it’s also a security risk when I talk to people about myself? I guess the only difference is that I can filter people out more in real life than I can online.
PLANS
14. I had plans of being a nun for the Sisters of Mercy early in high school. I changed my mind later. I went from Catholic to Agnostic to Atheist to Christian (Non-denominational).
15. I love New York but I get very homesick sometimes. I’m waiting for deals on JetBlue or Virgin America so I can do a weekend trip to California.
THOUGHTS
16. The thought of children scare me. Seeing the way teenagers act on tv make me think that I never want to have to deal with that responsibility. Although it would be nice to plant a seed on this planet, it’s so much on your shoulders when you bring life into this world.
17. I very much dislike gender separation and emphasizing gender differences. I have a love/hate relationship with the topics “Women in Gaming” or “Women in CS”. I think emphasis should be more on the fact that BOTH male and female exist within the realms that were typically male dominated. In fact, females have an easier time crossing gender boundaries than males. Whenever people say something is typically male (or when people say something is a “guy thing”, I always think that there is usually female exceptions. Emphasizing negative stereotypes merely discourages or alienates. Along the same lines, I dislike how females utilize their femininity to take advantage of males. I do see how women can turn mean when they’ve had histories where guys take advantage of them though. Yeah sometimes this world is messed up when gender comes into play.
PERSONALITY/HABIT
18. I’m a multitasker when I’m in front of the computer. I usually have several windows and tabs open at a time and I switch around between them a lot. It’s probably a habit I picked up from StarCraft.
19. I’m a duty fulfiller. My mind likes to have a constant to do list and it makes me feel good to check things off from that list. I like setting goals and reaching them or at least making my way towards it. Part of my duty fulfiller demeanor is constantly wanting to improve myself in every aspect I’m interested in. I also like the feeling of ‘leveling up’ and I hate being a noob but I accept it as part of life.
20. I have very ‘neat’ habits (but I’m not obsessively clean). I don’t like getting my hands dirty when I eat so I try to avoid it if I can. I like cutting my food into bite sized pieces before I eat. I’m also careful in putting food in my mouth so it doesn’t get all over my face. I like symmetry. I like organizing stuff. I do feel like cleaning up our apartment once in a while. It’s a lot more fun when Henry gets into it too. I also love to organize information into databases so I work a lot with mysql and excel.
21. I have a bad habit of peeling lip skin (lipstick keeps me from doing this) and shaking my leg/tapping my foot because I get antsy and can’t sit still.
22. My main mode of communication is instant messaging, followed by email, followed by in person, followed by phone. I’m most effective at organizing my thoughts when I’ve had time to ponder and I can type everything out.
23. I’m slightly claustrophobic. I get very antsy in tight spaces if I’m there for prolonged periods of time. That’s why I need to sleep on 16 hour plane flights.
24. I’m right-handed but I’m goofy. Sometimes I have left-handed tendencies like my left hand being stronger than my right when I work on biceps. Henry thinks I’m actually left-handed but my parents trained me to think I’m right-handed.
25. I enjoy any sort of personality evaluation or information sharing about myself (that’s why I jumped on this task sent to me by Chris Mah). I think it not only helps others learn about me and understand me better but it also helps me learn more about myself when I sit back and try to figure out my trends, tendencies, and thought processes.
