MYX Birthday Week – M1-5

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

*07/19/08, Saturday – We went home to get ready and Helen joined us as we headed to M1-5. Same group as earlier minus Andrew and Amy showed up. David showed up as well and Karen and her bf and some more Realty Robot guys. The music was off. It was a lot better the last time we went there. The DJ was poor and we waited for hip hop to come around. Later they switched DJs and this guy played French House which was dance-able. Not quite hip hop but passable. I still had fun. Henry had even more fun as he managed to break out in a battle against some guys there who pretended to know how to dance well. Some girl tried to take the circle too but she just looked like drunk girl dancing. My female territorial instincts started acting up but I didn’t do anything and just ignored the circle completely and just had fun dancing by myself. It was Henry’s birthday and I didn’t wanna ruin his night by taking his dancing thunder so I let him run wild with the circle. He did end up coming to me and dancing with me though so that was nice. I tried to drink that night at the very end when Henry ordered something to drink. I tried a sip and it was awful gosh I wanted to throw up. Yeah that’s like strike 82354 against alcohol. Alcohol, you just taste horrible. I can’t seem to make my peace with you.

China Earthquake Fund Relief

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

*05/30/08, Friday – From 5/24 to 5/30, I contacted a bunch of people at MTV to get their help sponsoring an event that Henry’s company, Realty Robot, was putting together to help raise funds for the China Earthquake Relief. By the day of the event, I got em Daily Show VIP tickets through Teri, a bunch of swag (many tshirts) from the Office of Global Inclusion/MTV Asian, and a bunch of swag (including three bags) through Stephanie. I went running around the MTV building contacting and meeting so many new people along the way. I was even in talks with SVPs and the legal department to make sure everything went well. I’m glad I got to help out. From Henry’s angle, he was able to come up with so many raffle prizes just through his contacts (me being one of them).

The event itself was a success. There were a ton of people at Stay Lounge. Henry and I got there at 9:30pm. Henry was quite a busy bee and he was also the emcee. I helped him out as much as I could but I also enjoyed myself dancing with him and with my friends. I’m glad a lot of people I knew came out – Helen, Lisa, Charlene, Stephanie, Angela, Yong (and most of them brought friends too). I had a lot of fun and felt like I got my dancing groove back on.

*06/09/08, Monday – I met a bunch of people who helped out with the event. We had dinner at Peking Duck House in Chinatown. A third of the people there were Henry’s coworkers. I didn’t really meet and greet a lot of people since I was way too tired from work and the sociability in me was just drained.

*06/10/08, Tuesday – What happened to the raffle prizes that weren’t raffled off at the event? Realty Robot held an online auction for the rest of the items. I didn’t really need any of them but after Henry sent me an email about the Xanga Lifetime Premium being one of the items being something I may be interested in, I saw at how it was actually a good deal. It was $30 when it is normally $100 or so. Plus, I didn’t pay for cover and it was almost the same price as cover for the event. Plus, it was for a good cause. When otherwise I wouldn’t have given away that money, I decided to go for it. In my own words “ah damnit okay fine ill get it. its for the cause anyway.”

*06/19/08, Thursday – So as of today, I have Xanga Lifetime Premium =P. I still have yet to see what it can do for me. I am glad there are no more ads. I didn’t like how it automatically changed my skin and I didn’t notice until Henry told me about it but I was able to easily change it back.
